Some mornings at Adaklu Dawanu Salvation Army Basic School where I teach, days hum along like most others, papers stacked high, voices bouncing off walls. Then there are moments when a child crafts something that shifts everything. That changes how you see the room.
Now here’s a name that comes to mind: Sabina Klu. That one stands out; More Than Just a Student.
Funny how one person can spot magic in what everyone else throws away. That is exactly what Sabina does. Most folks look at old scraps and call them waste. Not her. Her mind works differently, turning dull leftovers into fresh purpose. What sits lifeless to others wakes up under her hands. Beauty appears where no one thought to look.
Yet everything changes once the pencil touches paper.
I say she’s a ‘Born Artist’
It isn’t every day you meet someone who seems to have been handed a talent like a second nature. Form and shape bend easily under Sabina’s hand, something most people spend ages learning through strict lessons. Not long ago, she stood for our school at the District Cultural Festival, entering their figure drawing contest. Among strong competitors from all corners of the district, she didn’t merely show up, she had the first place. Seeing her sketching feels like seeing a person breathe in rhythm with music only they can hear. A whisper of creativity lives inside of her, eager to grow. Still, skill isn’t enough when what she needs just isn’t there.
A call for Partners in Potential.
At this moment, Sabine stands where paths split. Vision drives her, discipline holds her steady, yet what’s missing slows her down, guidance from someone who’s been there, support that sharpens instinct, tools that shape talent into something precise. Skill hums beneath the surface, though without direction, it flickers instead of burns.
Her story matters simply because skill like Sabina’s deserves more than borders or basic supplies can allow. Helping someone so driven does not stop at changing one life, it quietly strengthens what holds us together as a nation.
What do you need support with?
Guidance from one person to another, could that be you, if you create art or help others through coaching?
Got any sketchbooks, pencils or charcoal on hand? What about paints, do those come with what you’ve got? Maybe share what’s available if possible. Supplies like these make a real difference when drawing.
Let her tale spread, pass it along quietly, let it find where it needs to go.
What if we made sure Sabina’s talent got seen? Maybe it’s time her art reached more eyes. Her work could go further, given the chance. Let’s help one another.
